02 Mar Wines of Mallorca. Discover its Denominations of Origin
Mallorca is not only known for its great climate, spectacular natural landscapes and attractive golf courses. Did you know that it is also known for its great wine tradition?
Thanks to our privileged location and climate, our island is an ideal setting for wine production with its own Denominations of Origin.
Nowadays, different autochthonous grape varieties are grown here: to produce red wine we have Manto negro, Callet, Fogoneu or Gorgollassa. And if we talk about white grapes, we have Premsal Blanc, Giró ros and Moll.
Wines made in Mallorca have achieved great notoriety and recognition among wine guides, experts and consumers allover the world.
There are currently 70 winerieson the island , more than 500 brands of wine and 2 denominations of origin: Binissalem and Pla i LLevant.
As well as being an ideal destination for playing and enjoying golf, Mallorca has become an obligatory stop for wine tourism lovers, so when you plan your getaway, don't forget to visit some of the wineries with Designation of Origin.
An event not to be missed if you visit in May is Wine Days Mallorca, organised by the Binissalem DO: 9 days dedicated to enjoying wine, combining cultural and gastronomic experiences. The programme includes guided tours of the region's historical heritage, open days at the wineries, visits to markets and tastings of both wines and typical dishes. At night you can enjoy concerts in gardens, wineries, auditoriums or churches, which is a great way to learn first-hand about the wine-making process and discover charming villages that preserve a valuable architectural, gastronomic and cultural heritage.
Did you know that at Mallorca Tee Time we organise wine tastings in several historic wineries on our island?

We take care of everything! Transfer, tasting of their incredible wines and a delicious meal in the middle of a natural setting that will make your wine experience an adventure worth telling about.
One of our favourite wineries is Bodega Ribas, one of the oldest in Mallorca and known for combining tradition and innovation both in the winemaking process and in the cultivation of the vines, where the grapes are harvested just as they were for generations: by hand, but going through a triple selection system to ensure the best quality.
During your tasting experience at Bodega Ribas, you will be able to taste all kinds of wines: red, rosé, white and sweet. While you discover the history of the Can Ribas vineyards.
