What material do I need?
To begin with, we recommend that you include at least a putt, a 3-wood and the 5, 7 and 9 irons; always adapted to your level of play. On the other hand, you will need one of the basic materials: the ball. Just like the clubs - and surely you didn't know this - the balls must also be adapted to your level. We suggest you to choose a hard ball, as this will help you to reach a greater distance if you are not very experienced.
Finally, you can't miss the bag to put all your accessories in. They come in different sizes, colors and types, so it's up to you to choose! 😉
Do I have to wear specific clothing?
Yes, this is a sport that requires a basic dress code:
It is forbidden to wear jeans or tracksuits. The golf dresscode requires specific clothing, preferably in light tones, either chino pants, shorts or skirt in the case of girls.
In addition, you can not miss a good pair of gloves, golf shoes to avoid damaging the grass and a cap or visor to protect you from the sun. Here are their characteristics
For gloves, you need to know that if you are right-handed you will have to use a glove on the opposite hand and vice versa.
In addition, it is important that you choose one that is not too thick in order to have as much sensitivity as possible and also to avoid getting hot.
As for the shoes, it is advisable to choose good quality shoes with rubber soles and, if possible, made of leather to gain comfort and avoid chafing.
Finally, to avoid being dazzled by the sun, it is important to wear your cap (always facing forward) or, if you prefer, a visor or straw hat. And don't forget sunscreen!
What are the characteristics of a golf course?
The golf course should be of natural grass and outdoors, especially due to its size, since it usually occupies a fairly large area.
To be considered a professional course, according to USGA (United States Golf Association) standards, the total distance of the 18 holes (measured from the tee markers) must exceed 6,400 meters.
Each hole is considered an independent course and is composed of the tee, the fairway, the green and various obstacles such as the rough (area with the highest grass), sand bank and, in some cases, a water hazard.
How is the scoring in Golf?
Points are defined by the number of strokes needed to put the ball in the hole. The fewer the strokes, the better the score.
Although the total score of a match depends on the type of competition, the usual method is by accumulation of the entire match. That is, adding up all the strokes made and compensating those that have been given more in one hole, with those that have been given less in another.
The golfer who has used the fewest strokes in the entire competition wins. In case of a tie, a series of playoff holes are played.
